Participation in The Joseph Challenge is free, but we do accept donations to offset costs. Some proceeds may be passed on to the locations of the Pilgrimage (St. Joseph Clayton, Carmel of St. Joseph, Shrine of St. Joseph). Minimum suggested per-person amount: $50

WAIVER OF LIABILITY

Online Assumption of Risk, Waiver of Liability, and Release

Please read this agreement carefully. You must affirmatively check the box below to participate in the Joseph Challenge Pilgrimage (the “Activity”).

1. Acknowledgment of Risk

I understand that participation in the Joseph Challenge Pilgrimage involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

Physical exertion and walking long distances
Slips, trips, and falls
Motor vehicle traffic and roadway hazards
Weather-related risks (heat, cold, dehydration, sun exposure, storms)
Illness, allergic reactions, or other medical events
Actions or omissions of other participants

I understand that these risks may result in serious injury, illness, permanent disability, or death. I voluntarily assume all risks, whether known or unknown, and whether arising from negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

2. Release and Waiver of Liability

In consideration for being allowed to participate, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and agree not to sue:

Any partnering, sponsoring, or associated organizations
Their officers, directors, members, employees, agents, and volunteers

(collectively, the “Released Parties”)

from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from or related to any injury, illness, death, or property damage sustained during or arising from participation in the Activity, including claims based on negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Medical Fitness and Emergency Care

I certify that I am physically able to participate and have no medical condition that would make participation unreasonably unsafe, or I have consulted a medical professional and been cleared to participate.

I authorize the Released Parties to obtain emergency medical treatment on my behalf if necessary. I understand that I am responsible for any medical expenses incurred.

4. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, damages, or costs (including attorney’s fees) arising from my participation in the Activity.

5. Media Release

I grant permission to the Released Parties to use photographs or video recordings of me taken during the Activity for promotional, educational, or religious purposes without compensation.

6. Governing Law and Severability

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
